River Wharfe At Boston Spa
On my way to York this morning I saw that the river Wharfe was very high - almost to the top of the levées.
So this afternoon our dog walk took in the banks of the Wharfe at Boston Spa - near the weir, to see what the levels were like there. Plenty of water going over the weir!
The water was very brown - something to do with lots of peat up in the hills.
This shot was taken looking across the weir to the northern bank - I like the way the house reflections are distorted by the slight dip in water level before the weir itself.
In the foreground is the cover of the recently constructed fish gate which allows fish to move upstream past the weir.
