Fruits of Palm

Today was a May gray day, a common local weather pattern with cool, misty and overcast mornings that give way to sunny afternoons. Quite similar to June gloom, which follows later. This photo of a palm tree in my neighborhood was a good subject for a dull day. Coconuts, dates, and acai berries are some of the fruits of various palm tree species. This tree shows mature older fruit in purplish color and newer berries in green on the same plant. The berries have a lushness that contrasts well with the spiky fronds of the leaves.
