In Bruges

Delighted to be here, after nearly 24 hours of traveling -- no sleep, three flights, and three train journeys.

We had a lovely supper at a bistro near our studio apartment, where we met two interesting young Chinese women. One is seeking a Ph.D. in French literature in Paris, and the other living in Berlin and working in international trade.

Phil had his first (and second) Belgian beer in Brugge/Bruges tonight, and those numbers will steadily go up over the next few days.

Time to start catching up on my missed sleep!
