Red peril

A day for blipping large storm clouds, but on a swerve I stumbled on this leaf. I'm intrigued to know without recourse to Google what the red is. Other than presumably not very healthy for the tree. Ideas?

Wild outside, but a bit of a limp day at work. More focused tomorrow, well, other than contemplating Wednesday.
