The Boss

The ceiling variety - not the archbishop or Bruce Springsteen :)

On the way down from Scotland, I stopped over at York where my elder daughter, Alys, is at University.

This morning I went to York Minster, and my blip today is the ceiling of the Chapter House. When I was there before it was winter, and dark outside; there was a wonderful spiral arrangement of candles on the floor, and the ceiling was virtually invisible in the shadows. Today, in the light, I was struck by the rich colours, the strong lines of the beams, and of course the magnificent central boss.

Here are my other photos from my Minster visit.

I found I had less time than I'd planned at the Minister, because last night Alys told me about the families of geese who wander around beside Clifford's Tower. I stopped there on the way, and spent ages taking pictures of the goslings and their parents. Watching them crossing a busy road was nerve-wracking, but as you can see they know how to do it safely! :)
