Six Yellows and a Purple
The birds have been rather messy! But at least they clean up after themselves.
Today was a grey day, but it was also a day of colours. First, at last, the leaves are beginning to pop out on the smaller trees surrounding the yard. The lawn is already (miraculously it seems) a brilliant shade of green. Then there were the goldfinches - dozens of them - flocking from tree to feeder to bush ground to tree. The males are in full breeding plumage and daffodil yellow. And mixed in with the goldfinches? A couple of indigo buntings, blue as the sea. On the tray feeder there were orioles (orange) and a cardinal (red). To someone who grew up with sparrows and starlings as the default birds, these glorious splashes of spring colour cannot fail to impress!
