Take off!

I ran a short testing session with my new moth trap in the garden last night. I collected a lot more Cockchafers than moths. Also known as May-bugs, these beetles swarm around trees and crash into lights and lighted windows at this time of year. I have to say I was disappointed that this was my main catch, but then realised I had a great opportunity to get some photos as they warmed up this morning. This one had spent 5 minutes warming up with a pumping sort of motion, then I was lucky enough to capture it just as it took off to find shelter and safety.
