New years sunrise over Guernsey

Well I was in bed by 1, up at 7, got the van by 8 and first photo by 8.20.
The photo is the corner of Castle Cornet looking towards Jersey in the distance.
The Castle is dotted with these metal sculputures of men.
This is my favourite one.
He's standing there all alone waiting for the sunrise every morning or could be waiting for someone of something else.
For some of us 2010 got off to a good start but this is a reminder that others are not so lucky.
