Savannah Land FNQ

Today we travelled by an old train into the savannah land of Far North Queensland (FNQ)

The scenery was so majestic and as we headed into the centre it became even more spectacular.

This scene was from one of the highest points in Chillagoe, way way inland,

It comes to life this weekend with the annual wheelbarrow race of over 100 km for teams of 1 to 8 to push a standard wheelbarrow for 100km over 3 days.

The wheelbarrows have to be completely empty and are all standard. Last year a contestant was disqualified for having a photo of a bikini clad girl in the barrow to give him encouragement. Tough call by the judge but strictly in line with the rules.
