Window

This window is in a relatively new home, one of many built on the site of the former J W Singer works, a foundry that cast, among other things, the statue of Boadicea which stands on Westminster Bridge opposite the Houses of Parliament, that of Cecil Rhodes which stands on the Motoppo Hills in Zimbabwe, the bronze work of the Victoria and Albert Memorial which faces Buckingham Palace and many other statues across the world. Since 1999, they've been a shadow of their former selves, limited to making sprinkler frames and other fire prevention products.

Many of Frome's manufacturing industries are now housing estates ... and it looks as though another one may join them: it was announced yesterday that Butler, Tanner & Dennis, the printing firm that my husband was made redundant from 6 years ago, is to go into administration for a second time. I'm so relieved that my husband never got back in there, but I'm so very sorry for those being made redundant from there for a second time.
