What a lovely day:-

Dusk in the apiary

At this time of year the colonies of bees are expanding rapidly.

We are now in what is called the swarming season.

This means that colonies of bees can start to divide themselves by swarming.

The only reliable method to prevent this happening is to fully examine each colony every seven days.

So today was the day when this was first done. So far no sign of swarming has been found.

However one cannot deny that it was hard work!
