Magflo

Most of my day was taken up with something similar to this, problem was it was the transmitter that sits on top of this (instead of the black cover) that I was looking for. No joy, not an immediately serious problem either as the flow meter that has been installed works ok ish for now. But I will need to be able to adjust the maximum flow rate (span) so that I can scale the signal in the control system.
This, by the way, is an electromagnetic flow meter, the measurement principle is based on Faraday's Law of electromagnetic induction (Michael Faraday, another one of my heros)
A voltage is induced by an electrical conductor passing through a magnetic field.
In these the water traveling through the flow meter tube is the conductor, and the induced voltage is proportional to the average flow velocity, so the faster the flow the higher the voltage.
We had some sort of weather today, it threatened to get hot for while but it was only a threat, never really noticed it much tbh.
