Pirner's Brig, Edzell

A great morning on a photo shoot with my digital photography class. First visit was to Edzell Castle where I took lots of shots of the castle and the peacocks. Then we went to Priner's Brig which is just up the road from the Castle. Pirner's Brig is a lovely spot to stop and have a picnic! There is a good free Car Park. Pirner's Brig was was built in the early 1900s from a donation by Henry Coates, a West Scottish businessman whose family had made its fortune from the manufacture of sewing reels, bobbins and threads. The Scots word for a bobbin is 'pirn' hence the name Pirner's Bridge. The bridge crosses a gorge along the West Water, the river which flows through Glen Lethnot eventually joining the South esk just south of Edzell. Again took lots of shots of the water. The blip is not the best out of these but it does show the gorgeous red sandstone along the banks - also a couple of my classmates doing their stuff:-)
