The gentle art of T'ai Chi
Yesterday I tried T’ai Chi for the first time introduced to it by 82-year-old Joy Scott, former Scottish water-ski champion.
Joy starts each day with a session in her garden.
And today I persuaded her to do a demonstration beside Loch Airthrey in the grounds of Stirling University.
She is a firm believer in taking a very pro-active approach to getting on in years.
“Too many people just give up. It’s all a matter of attitude. You have got to push yourself.”
Joy is a member of our Keep Dancing group and despite having already had one knee replacement and is waiting for another she will be with us tomorrow taking part in the Dance Pledge which is a global dance project.
This is expected to attract about 100,000 participants making it a world-breaking global dance event.
And Joy and I will be among them doing our bit to promote positive images of older people.
PS There are lots of videos on Youtube but they took such a long time to load that I did not have the patience so have not put links in.
