A Different View of Halfdome
We walked five or six miles around Mirror Lake, never far from the sound and smell of rushing water in Tenaya Creek. A couple years ago there was a landslide out here, and now the trail simply crosses the rocks as it goes from one marsh to another. Looking straight up, you can see the distinctive curve of Halfdome. I've spent so many hours trying to draw this mountain from a different aspect that I get a kick out of seeing it from this vantage point--every curve that I know appears different and much more complex.
Further along the trail we saw a handful of tiny bright blue butterflies that scattered like confetti and were impossible to photograph, but they were like music in the air.
