Florence

This was our first close up glimpse of The Basilica Di Santa Maria Del Fiori-and I'd never seen anything like it!
It was started in 1296 and it took 140 years to find someone with the 'right idea' to complete the dome , so thanks to a competition won by the master goldsmith Brunelleschi it was eventually finished in 1436. I was taken aback at how plain the inside of this church is in comparison to the outside and for me that made it even more lovely.
