Derby Street, Leek
An old photo that’s been sat on my desk for a few days, on its way to the bin after Beck was clearing out some boxes of ancient stuff last weekend. I’ve become strangely fascinated with it in the meantime. I like the angles in it, that distant view of the Monument on the right hand side. It also intrigues me what the motives were for the taking of it – to capture that classic Timpsons signage for posterity? An interest in pale grey road surfacing? Luckily, the onset of the digital age means that we won’t be passing these mysteries on to our own grandchildren – one tap of the delete key and all our old crap will be gone for good…
