harvesting the maize.......

Got the car back this afternoon and hoping that it will take me home tomorrow.....

At the place I am staying the caretaker has just brought his harvest in from the garden and what a good harvest it is. His whole family is busy taking the maize off the husks to store until they use it to make the staple food, nsima (a stiff maize porridge). He reckons they will finish the job in about a week.

Its not easy work - the maize is dry and hard and it gives you blisters but if it means food for the year its worth it!!
