Whimsical topiary

Some fun topiary in Alexandra Park in Penarth. There are a few birds coming on, too. Beautiful summer's day today, and it's only May. And the concert we went to hear from the Chamber Choir of Ireland was so beautifully programmed. It was not obvious how the pieces they sang would work together, but somehow the cumulative effect, the contrasts of colour and mood, made it an altogether wonderful experience. And they ended up singing John Tavener's Hymn to Athene, made popular from Princess Di's funeral under a huge colourful banner that happened to be adorning the east end of the church which read "Alleluja", which happens to be largely what the choir sings in the piece. It was coincidence, but a very happy one.
