The first thing cooked on our stove

Today was the first day that we had a functioning stove in our house. Nuris (the pastor's wife) had cooked arroz con leche (a Colombian dish renowned for being delicious, and also the title of a playground song similar to the k-i-s-s-i-n-g song in english!) which was not dis-similar to rice pudding. We then provided pudding - bananas and custard with added arequipe. So British that the first thing we cooked on our stove was Birds' custard!
