Man & Machine

Today I got to spend time with the folks in our Machining Program. Sheldon is the program chair and he loves to show off the $200,000 toys he and the other faculty get to play with all day. This is a state-of-the-art CNC (computer numerical control) machine that is one of only a handful along the west coast. It really is fascinating to watch what these folks can produce with this high tech gadgetry. While I can't claim to know a thing about the technology, I can tell you that the passion they have for their field of work is amazing. I love watching Sheldon, and his buddies, Duane and R.B. interacting with students and training them for careers in this exciting field.
