If you go down to the woods today

you may be met by this character pulling up rhododendrons.

This is a friend of mine who I have worked with on and off for many years. Today he was demonstrating the "lever and Mulch" method of rhododendron control. Basically pulling them up by the roots, or deconstruction which is the way Donald refers to it. I am a big supporter of this method, for reasons too long to explain here.

In case you are not aware Rhododendron Ponticum is a big problem here in Argyll as it is so invasive and destroys native vegetation...etc I could go on. Despite little old ladies and the tourists thinking they are pretty thousands of pounds are spent trying to remove and control these plants. They cause big problems so please don't ever plant this vigorous variety in your garden.

Late blip as it was the early hours before I returned home, a very sociable evening
