Wanderings & Witterings

Spent the first part of Friday in Stirling and decided to have lunch in the cafe at the Smith Art Gallery & Museum. What started off as a 'pop in for lunch' visit ended up with me spending quite a bit of time there: partly because the service in the cafe was abysmally slow (I think they were having a bad day), but also because the gallery had a 'Remember Bannockburn' exhibition recording how the Battle had been recorded in art in the 700 years since it took place in 1314.

On leaving the gallery, and since the sun was shining, I thought I'd wander round the gardens for a bit - but hadn't realised before this visit that there was an extension to the rear of the gallery called 'Ailie's Garden'. This was a beautiful little haven - check the link for details - and it both looked and felt wonderful in the afternoon spring sunshine.

One of the features is a mini labyrinth, at the centre of which is a stone beehive structure (pictured).
