May Daily Challenge - Magnolia

Day 16 of AnnieMay and MollyMay's May challenge - Magnolia

After finishing work I started the journey up to the Lakes, the first leg being to call in on the middle daughter in York. That visit is scheduled for tomorrow, and when this was planned a couple of months ago I looked at the cost of staying in a Travelodge (£120 plus parking and breakfast) or a Premier Inn (£130 plus...). I wasn't staying with the daughter as they have a young baby (Grandson #2), and the last thing you want is a weary traveller turning up on your doorstep at midnight, while baby is asleep, and then have to get up again in the middle of the night for the night-time feed. Refusing to pay those prices, I booked into a "proper" hotel just off the A1 (swimming pool, fitness centre, tennis courts etc) where I paid £38 including parking and a full English. It was a little puzzling though, as to why there were 2 pairs of safety goggles in a drawer along with a 5m steel tape.

I thought I could rely on the room being painted magnolia for the challenge, and was right!
