Hoop Dancer

I needed an ornament for a space in my little house that was opened up when I took my giant geraniums outside. I dug around in my storage and found my Hoop Dancer - which is a Kachina Doll. Kachina dolls are wooden figures representing kachinas in Native American lore. A Kachina is a spirit being in western Pueblo cosmology and religious practices.

The central theme of the kachina [religion] is the presence of life in all objects that fill the universe. Everything has an essence or a life force, and humans must interact with these or fail to survive.
