Mourning Dove

The Mourning Doves hang out under our bird feeders and clean up the seeds that are dropped by others. They are not particularly colorful birds, but the males have a little iridescent blue and pink coloring around the neck and head. Other names are Turtle Dove or the American Mourning Dove. It is the most abundant and widespread of all North American birds and gets its name from its call which sounds like this .
