F/V Deep Pacific Passing Through the Large Lock

5/17/20104 ~ Inbound ~ F/V Deep Pacific Passing Through the Large Lock of the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks (Ballard Locks), Ballard Neighborhood, Seattle, WA

During an afternoon walk through the Ballard Locks there were a number of commercial fishing vessels, recreational sail and power boats, and some sea-kayakers who were passing through the large and small locks. Lots of people walking about and it appears that the tourist season has begun.

The blue heron rookery has a large colony this year and the tree tops are full of nests. The pair of peregrine falcons are nesting as well, so lots of bird watchers are about as well.

A beautiful warm day with a mix of sunshine and some light rain.
