Bleaklow Quarry
It was a warm sunny early summers day, and we took a trip into the Peak District for a walk. The start of the walk was though Coomsdale near Stoney Middleton, its a steep sided valley upon to Longstone Moor, and we saw a lot of butterflies, birds and even a little water vole.
Once you get onto the moor the earth is scarred by quarrying, but nature is trying to reclaim the areas that are not in use anymore, we watched the skylarks rising high in the sky to sing their beautiful song.
A little further on in the walk we came across this quarry at Bleaklow, I had mixed emotions looking at this scar on the landscape, there is beauty in the colours and texture of the exposed rock face, but I also saw the devastation that man has made.
