Berberis ottawensis 'Superba`& the matrix link

Another wet day and my husband drove me to a village with some abandoned factories nearby. I have photographed the windows many years ago adorned with ice flowers. These derelict buildings will definitely feature in future blips (maybe tomorrow). But poor bored hubby called me away to this stunning bush with deep red leaves and delicate yellow and pink flowers. It was swarming with huge bumblebees but they were so heavy that I couldn´t get good focus with them swinging away. Hubby held one branch still and I got one sharp pic here but this shot appealed to me more.
Bees cultivate hives which consist of a matrix (honeycomb)used for storing honey and pollen and for breeding.
