It's been an upsetting day, hearing about the crew of Cheeki Rafiki lost in the Atlantic. This is the yacht our son George has been sailing - it's in the background here. He delivered it on the first leg of its journey to Antigua. He's very close to the crew so obviously he's distressed about the whole affair and so are we. I've been following the breaking story closely and I'm concerned that some important details are missing. The upturned yacht was found by a cargo boat, the M/V Maersk Kure. Crew members could have been inside, could still be inside. Has the yacht's hull been checked? Has the cargo boat stayed with the yacht? A news release says the life raft is believed to be missing. Well is it or isn't it? And why oh why has the search for survivors been called off by the US coastguard?
I've just caught up with the story which has changed now. It's saying the yacht was spotted by a cargo boat that did not stop. That's scandalous. It photographed the boat. How could it abandon an upturned boat that could have had surviving crew inside?
Sorry the blip taken this morning of Rob, seems a lifetime away now and so irrelevant to everything we've heard today. My thoughts are with those missing men and their families.
Thank you for your kind comments on the butterfly. We went for a walk this evening to try and clear our minds and took another one in the evening sunshine.
