Smallest butterflies, greatest pleasures.
Small Blue, our smallest butterfly, they're tiny little jewels, much bluer in flight than when settled and with a real sparkle in the sunlight.
One of my favourite things to do is to sit down among a colony of them, I found a colony next to a path today and sat down to enjoy them dancing at eye level all around me, small flurries of sparkling blue, looking beautiful and delicate but having a bit of a fight.
I've got a nasty cold so the trek up the hill (especially the bit where I had to march uphill pretty fast on account of some curious cattle) nearly killed me, but experiences like this are worth it.
