Ramblings from Zambia....

taking home the firewood..............

Went to church this morning - quite a short service, only two and a half hours!! Then came home and had a visitor which was lovely. The kids came to play in the afternoon in the garden.

I went out walking with a friend this afternoon and we passed these two ladies (yes, there are two) carrying home really heavy loads of firewood. I didn't ask to take their picture and just snapped quickly as they passed. I like the evening light as the sun is going down.

My son is off to Tanzania for a week to go to a conference. He is travelling by road to Dar es Salaam which takes around 27 hours. He left early this morning so that he would get through the Malawi border in good time to reach Mbeya today which is about 3 hours past the border, and it takes almost 4 hours to reach the border from here. Around 11am I received a frantic phone call - he has forgotten his passport and is in Karonga (3 hours from here). Fortunately a friend came to visit who was going through Karonga to Chitipa so I sent the passport with him. Its now 8pm and he is safely through the border and on a minibus to Mbeya.........I hope he gets there in good time as he leaves at 4am for Dar es Salaam in the morning. The joys of travel in Africa!!
