Mums birthday and Modern Technology

My Mum is 83 today ! Family members descended from across the country and a very good meal was enjoyed at the Golf Club.

Back at my parents house for birthday cake, we nearly blew my Mums mind by skyping our other sister who lives in Dubai ! She couldn't get it at first, how could Sally be on her iPad screen and talking at the same time ? However by the time we had all sung Happy Birthday and blown out the candles and Sally had sung along, Mum began to get the hang of it and was chatting to Sally very happily as Annie held the screen !

When my Mum was born in 1931, television had only recently been invented and a letter from Dubai would have taken weeks to get here ! So many changes in one lifetime !
