At Home in France
After today's marathon travel from Brugge/Bruges to Olargues, in the Languedoc region of France, it feels very good indeed to settle into our familiar studio flat in the heart of the village.
We awoke today to our 3:45 a.m. alarms, our taxi was on time, and we traveled on three different trains: Brugge/Bruges to Brussels, Brussels to Lyon (France), and Lyon to Beziers. We then took a cab from the railway station to the airport, a fair distance away, picked up our rental car, and headed north to Olargues.
As is the way with this magic village, as soon as we parked we ran into UK expats here whom we knew from our previous visits (this is the seventh). We'll have a visit with them in the next few days, as well as another UK expat couple -- and there are also three blipmeets on our schedule!
The weather was beautiful in late afternoon, but is forecast to deteriorate over the next few days. We're fortunate to have both a washing machine and tumble dryer in our flat, and both have been in use this evening, following a light meal and a little wine at the local small hotel.
Tomorrow morning there will be a stop at the bakery and the small organic grocery store before we set off on visiting rounds.
I'm falling behnd on comments, but I'll catch up eventually!
