East Cairn Hill and Harperrig Reservoir

A breezy day, so I didn't go very far on the bike today. As the wind was SW, I headed to West Lothian.

The disadvantage was cycling down the Long Dalmahoy Road, never pleasant when heading in to the wind. If you're wealthy enough you could head down to Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club, and possibly play a round on the Dalhahoy Golf Course.

I have no golf clubs, and am not wealthy enough, so I carried on to Kirknewton, then headed north through Almondell and Calderwood Country Park. West to Pumpherston, famous for the Shale Oil that used to be extracted from the immediate area. Finally heading south through South Livingston and passing Harburn Golf Club.

The main aim was that when I reach the A70, the Lang Whang, I get an easy ride home. And I doo. I easily hit 35mph. The wind is on my back, and the road mostly downhill. That meant I was back in Edinburgh in no time.

Well almost. I stop to snap this, and a few other pictures, of East Cairn Hill and Harperrig Reservoir. If you take the path crossing Cauldstane Slap, to the right of the hill, you would follow the Thieves Road and end up in West Linton.

Nice to speed down an empty road, upping my average speed considerably. 39.9 miles at 16.9mph. Not bad seeing as most of the ride was spent riding in to the wind.
