Don't eat this!

I found this weird mushroom at the edge of the woods, and thought it looked similar (but not the same) to a much prized morel. I looked it up in a mushroom book, and ID'd it as Gyromitra esculenta (Family:Helvellaceae), also called Brain Mushroom.
POISONOUS depending on person's resistance, concentration of poison in the particular mushroom, and amount eaten. Death can occur from liver damage or heart failure.

The edible morels apparently grow here, though I have never seen one. They have a cone shaped cap with a pattern of pits and ridges.
