Prayer wheels

Another blurry out of focus one:-) but again I liked it best....others, in focus and all, will be on Flickr page later....

And another day in the hills. I seem to have fallen into a routine which is delighting me...Coffee and scribbles in the morning, wander somewhere new in the afternoon and then odd frustrations at guest house wifi...no, not really.

Today went down to dharmsala proper, 10km on the winding mountain roads in a mini bus. The town itself is so different from this saffron robed outcrop above. Much warmer, Hindu; a ragged place, showing none of the glitter and wealth, (all comparative of course), but a dry and dusty place, clinging to the hills. But a comfortable familiarity there, not too different from other places seen in passing: that rural poverty which, despite the innate wealth of India, remain. Remain everywhere I suppose, wealth seems to have a gravitational pull towards the cities...

Hmm. I ramble...

The return to mcleod ganj wasn't by minibus but a full sized coach and a driver who seemed to think of the journey as the mountain stage of some obscure rally...that really was one of the most interesting journeys of all...as he whizzed into hairpins, barely touched the brakes other than one swerved screech as another bus approached....

So now, as I sip the penultimate coffee of the day, seek a red pen, and the light becomes weighed down by the approaching sunset, settling into a vague haze upon slopes and trees; above and behind the last snows shimmer in the reflected orange light... Not so bad a dsy
