Kinpurnie and Hatton

Met a couple of people out walking today. The general consensus seems to be that we've all had a lovely time - but that this snow thing has gone on for quite long enough! Don't think their view was shared by the kids though. Whoops of delight cut through the silence as they sped down the hills around us on makeshift sledges. I think it's going to be hard to persuade them that the return to school is a good thing this year!

Other than that the walk was largely uneventful - except for the toad that was struggling over the fresh fall of snow as he seemed to have wakened early from hibernation. His movement was so sluggish, it looked for all the world as if we were watching a film in slow motion. After some debate we agreed that sometimes you can do more harm than good by intervening. So, we didn't take him home. We moved him slightly and left him where there were fewer icicles and the water was still running. Hopefully he'll be able to catch anything he needs there and then get back to doing what frogs do at this time of year.

Took this shot at the beginning of the walk. Looking back towards the village, the man spotted the light on the hills, so I duly stuck the gorilla on a fence and tried an HDR.
