Fairytale gone bad

Borrowed the title from Sunrise Avenue.

The guy in handcuffs, good old Mossbeard, used to be one of my favourite book characters as a child - after all, he was so fond of nature, taking care of injured snakes and all... And no weed in his beard back then, just some lingonberries.
