Simply Chipper
Twas a great 3 day weekend. Covered 60+ km by foot, took 300+ photos with the camera and another 100 odd with the iPhone. Had a wonderful day at Crawford Lake and dinner with friends...and made some new wee furry friends late this afternoon.
I had got back to the car after spending all day on the trails when it started to rain. The rain stopped after 15 minutes and I thought I have another 10km left in me. It was 5pm and I had a couple of hours before the park closed, so what is one supposed to do? Just go home? Glad I did make the effort of another walk as I met a very handsome family living amongst some rocks. I counted at least 7 and fell in love with them all. They move really quick and with the failing light I was hoping I could get at least 1-2 sharp images hand held at speed. Fortunately one helpful model sat almost still for a couple of seconds while I rattled off a number of shots as fast as possible trying my best to focus.
They were bringing food back to their abode and unfortunately all the shots I took of food carriers were too blurry to use. Three seemed to be sentinels keeping a vigilant look out for unwelcome visitors. The chipmunks in the photo set are the three watchers - the only ones that would sit long enough for me to focus (of sorts).
Seeing these wonderful wee creatures running about at great speed in the wild really topped off the weekend.
