Ha! Pea new year

Pea soup is just the thing when you've been out to John Muir Country Park with the dog and kids.

I hardly ever make pea soup, even though I love it, so I get a little excited when I do. This one, however, did not live up to my expectations as the stock from the ham hough was too smoky for my taste.

It's not a good picture and I've probably steamed up my lens but it encapsulates the past couple of weeks, where I have been cooking so much hearty winter food. It's somehow more appealing to eat seasonal foods when the weather is suitably seasonal, too.
