Exotic bloom

I couldn't resist this one which was looking rather sad and dried out in the supermarket. It's a Medinilla Magnifica or a Philippine Orchid. I'm going to try to let it survive (which will be a hard task as I don't have green fingers at all) and hopefully I can then experience the true beauty of its flowers as this one fell out as soon as it came out of the cellophane.

As for yesterday's red pests, I founds and discarded 5 of them this morning (just in time too, 2 pairs were busy procreating, so not so sluggish early in the morning!). I'll be on red beetle watch for the coming weeks :-)
