go the distance

took a break from work today to take pictures. there is a beautiful path that leads through lush gardens into this woods, and this wooden shelter is a wonderful place to relax and be alone and reflect. in the woods, there are lots of stone statues of animals, including bears, owls, snails, and .. camels? you know, the common woodland animals

when i was in the woods, it started to get really dark and cloudy, and all of a sudden there was lightning everywhere. every second there was lightning somewhere nearby, but not a drop of rain. it was really loud. lightning is very difficult to get on camera.. i wish the sound would become before the light so that you could get a heads up, but i guess you still wouldn't know where to point your camera. on my simple camera, i can't adjust the shutter speed like danny, so the picture i managed to get isn't nearly as impressive. i kept trying and trying, but then the rain finally came down. as it poured and hailed, i stuffed my camera down my shirt and ran inside. my camera is fine, but i was soaked

oh well. i like this picture better anyway
