Snow

One week at a winter cottage. Snow, ice, ruffed grouse and more snow. And then some more snow.

Soft fluffy, gentle, incessant.

]PS[/b] OK, the snow was really very beautiful. It fell on a thick coating of freezing rain that covered everything in sparkles. But after 3 days of gentle snow I felt like screaming - STOP!!! I need a break! It just gets a little monotonous.

This really is a wonderful time of year for me. For the past 22 years my sister and I and our families - from boyfriends to husbands to babies and now teenagers have gotten out of the city for New Year's and enjoyed being togther playing games, eating, reading, skiing and snowshoeing. Best of all, just relaxing and getting to know each other and ourselves again.

PPS. My son tried to calibrate my monitor today. So if anyone is looking at this, The pink and yellow that I now see is not supposed to be there. Imagine white and greyish blue shadows on gently undulating snow!
