Pizza Oven
A wood burning pizza oven, preferably outdoors is de rigeur in wine country. We are contemplating building one ourselves. But it occurs to us that every restaurant we go to with any regularity has one, so why bother? I imagine the argument will go on for years before we ever do anything.
When my niece Annie married an Italian man, His father had a huge wood burning oven built on their terrace as a wedding present. OilMan learned quite quickly that it is NOT the same thing as a barbecue when he tried doing some eggplants and peppers in it. I don't know if it was the beautiful view of Monviso, the inviting table with an umbrella and a glass of wine, or the company, but the eggplants and peppers were forgotten and unrecognizable black lumps by the time he checked on remembered them.
Perhaps it's best to leave the wood fired oven pizzas to the experts, especially when we can enjoy a salad and a glass of wine in the "grande piazza" while we wait.
