Teix Mountain

Caught a bus to the picturesque village of Valldemossa. The narrow streets of warm coloured stone houses were adorned with terracotta pots and an array of colourful flowers. Lots of inspiration for my home garden. The plan was to walk across the mountain range back to Deia and after a long steady uphill hike in the shade of the pine trees we came out on top of the spectacular Cami de S'Arxiduo. The path of worn white limestone followed the edge of the escarpment . The views were spectacular to the coastal villages and the further peaks of the Tarumontana Range. We followed this ridge all the way to Teix, the highest point on the massif. The vegetation was beautiful, with carpets of Rosemary, Lavendar, Hypericum, Mountain Sage and others less familiar. We then began our descent to Deia, not uneventful, down a difficult to follow, steep, zigzaggy trail which took a lot longer than expected from looking at the map. A familiar story when I'm out with Earthdreamer.

Rounded off a lovely day with a taste of Deia village life at a film night hosted at the studio of a friend of a friend. These West Cork connections reach far and wide.
