Male Yellowhammer
More gardening today - it's got to be done if we want a decent show for the summer:-) I planted a dozen new Alpines in my recently cleared border. Far too many according to my husband, who says they will all grow in to each other eventually. Well actually - that's exactly what I want them to do! Less chance for the weeds to grow.
This lovely yellowhammer brought his wife and child to feed under the seed feeder, but sadly the huge rooks chased them away - before we chased away the rooks! Yellowhammers are on the Red Alert as an endangered species after their numbers fell by 50% in recent years, mainly due to changes in farming methods. It's always a real privilege to see them in the garden:-)
Grey skies and showers today and fairly chilly, but not as much rain as we might have had. Hope it improves for tomorrow when I have a blipmeet planned:-)
