Clever rook

This little feeder was filled with mealworms. The rook has lifted it up by its hanging string until it can grab the top with its beak, then it lifts it some more so that it can hold it with its foot, leaving the beak free to grab the food.

Meantime, a few metres away, the six great tit chicks are still doing well, though mum and dad have looked very wet at times during the day.
