Exercising our right

Today's polling day is a special one in our household.

Over many decades there have been changes to who is allowed to vote in elections, not just in the UK but across the world.

We are so very fortunate in the UK that we are free to exercise our vote as we choose. Even spoiling our ballot paper is a choice we have.

I believe it is important to vote. It demonstrates respect for those who put themselves forward to serve us. I believe it also demonstrates respect for those who campaigned, and indeed are campaigning now, for people to be allowed to vote.

There is an argument that we should not vote as it only encourages them.

You could equally say if you don't vote you can't complain about them!

The reason today's vote is so special to us?
Today is the day that Adam was allowed to exercise his vote for the first time.
