Piggyback to Singapore
I came up to the Bridge to find the Captain, Chief Engineer and various other Officers swapping binoculars and looking at this brilliant vessel.
The orange vessel is called the Blue Marlin, and its purpose is to sink so that large, unwieldy objects like this semi-submersible rig can be loaded on her deck. Once its loaded, ballast tanks are pumped out, and the load is floated. Ingenious and utterly beautiful.
As we were just clearing the English Channel, this vessel is making her way to Singapore, and should be there by the end of June. Bon voyage!
